People are making the choice to give hope.
Shortly after I decided to run this ultra marathon I wanted to do some fund raising. Throughout my life I’ve always felt sad seeing images of the poor and hungry children of Africa. Whether it was the famines in Ethiopia, the AIDS epidemic in South Africa and elsewhere or the victims of the more recent genocide in Rwanda and the surrounding countries. I always felt those emotions but never really cared enough to actually do something about it. I decided to raise funds for Congo when a Congolese colleague of mine showed me Lisa Shannon’s website. Ms. Shannon left her life in the states to devote herself to the efforts in the Congo. After learning Lisa’s story and reading some of Nicholas Kristof’s articles in the New York Times, I decided that this was the specific cause that I would support. Please take a look at what Lisa and others like her are doing to help. And please contribute yourself.

Every week I meet with Tulumba Ntumba to go over our company’s creative teams’ workflow and project schedules. I‘ve worked with her for the past 13 years. One morning I asked her if she knew of any worthwhile causes that I could support. She directed me to articles about Lisa Shannon.

Lisa Shannon

Lisa Shannon left her life in Seattle, Washington to live in Congo supporting the displaced women and children. She still organizes runs to raise funds for the Women for Women organization. She says what she’s done is very simple compared to what the women she’s sponsored have gone through.
Because of people like Lisa and all of the incoming support, change is happening…
